Paramedic coverage in Sarnia has received a boost, with Lambton County council approving additional staff, equipment and a new ambulance.
Lambton EMS was directed to immediately recruit staffing for an additional 12 daytime hours of paramedic service — or four new full-time paramedics — and to add one ambulance, a stretcher, defibrillator and the required medical supplies.
It’s the first paramedic staffing increase in Lambton since 2004.
“After many years, we are pleased to see the County of Lambton finally making the long-overdue request to increase their paramedic coverage to meet the growing demands of their aging population,” said Sharleen Stewart, president of SEIU Healthcare.
