Tara Jeffrey For the first time since the pandemic began, Lambton Public Health is reporting no active cases of confirmed COVID-19 among residents. In total, 347 people have been infected with the virus locally, and resolved cases are now at 321. There had previously been no COVID-19 patients in hospital since mid-June, but Bluewater Health officials confirmed Wednesday that a 61-year-old man is currently in the Intensive Care Unit fighting the virus. The patient is not a resident of Lambton County and therefore not included in the local health unit's daily tally. Twenty-five deaths have been linked to the virus, including ten residents of Vision Nursing Home, and six from Landmark Village. The first five cases here were reported March 25.

Ontario recorded 583 new cases Wednesday.

According to provincial data, Lambton is one of three public health units currently reporting no active cases; the others are North Bay Parry Sound Health Unit, and Thunder Bay District Health Unit. Chatham-Kent is reporting four active cases, while the Middlesex-London Health Unit is reporting 37.
