Veolia Environmental Services has been acquitted of criminal negligence charges after a fatal explosion at the Scott Road facility in October 2014.

The explosion at the Sarnia facility killed 37-year-old Jason Miller and severely injured five others.

Last week, an Ontario Court found Veolia and Division Manager Anthony Lavoratore not guilty of criminal negligence, citing no evidence suggested Veolia acted recklessly or failed to meet industry standards.

Charges under the Occupational Health and Safety Act related to the same incident remain before the courts.
