Damage is estimated around $120,000 following a single-storey house fire in Sarnia this week.

Sarnia Fire Rescue Services Chief Fire Prevention officer Roel Bus said crews responded to the blaze around 4:50 p.m., Thursday, in the 700 block of Talfourd Street.

“Upon arrival, firefighters discovered smoke from the front porch of the single storey house,” a news release stated. “Smoke could be seen coming from the eaves as well, indicating the fire had breached into the attic.

“Firefighters quickly brought the fire under control and stopped the spread of fire to the rest of the structure.”

Damage was kept to the exterior front and to a lesser degree in the attic, Bus noted.

No one was home at the time of the fire, and no firefighters were injured. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
