Sarnia is sending a letter of appreciation to the family of Edna Mary Pocock, who has left a bequest of $107,000 to help maintain and improve Canatara Park.

Edna and Earl Pocock lived most of their adult lives on Christina Street, with a back yard and garden overlooking Lake Chipican.

Canatara was special place to them and Edna, who had earlier given money for the park’s Animal Farm, hoped another donation would ensure it remains a welcoming place, according to niece Karen App.

“It is through bequests like this that allow the city to add to the quality of life within this city,” said Coun. Mike Stark.
