High winds and heavy waves delayed the Bkezhigomi unity paddle and water walk as it approached Sarnia on Aug. 13.

Waiting at the Blue Water Bridge for the participants were Daisy White, 11, Angel Riley, 11 and Raven Kicknosway, 11, all of Walpole Island.

The event, in which First Nations walked and paddled from Kettle Point to Sarnia to Walpole, focused attention on the importance of keeping the St. Clair River clean and healthy.
