The United Way has reached the half way mark of the 2015 campaign.

Just over $975,000 has been raised toward this year’s target of $1.95 million, which is about 3% ahead of last year’s pace, the umbrella fundraising agency said today.

The $1.95 target, if reached, would match last year’s record-setting donations.

“It is the broad mass of donors which are the backbone of United Way. We are so fortunate to have generous people in this community who continue to give,” said Campaign Chair Richard Kelch.

Large donors who have all had successful kick-offs include Imperial Oil, Suncor, Nova Chemicals, Transport Canada, Styrolutions, Point Edward Casino and the Department of Fisheries and Oceans, he added.

“Schools across Sarnia-Lambton have also started their individual campaigns.”

The United Way supports 22 agencies providing more than 35 programs and services in Sarnia-Lambton.
