A 32-acre parcel of land at the foot of Exmouth Street has been severed, signalling the possibility of future development.

Steeves and Rozema Enterprises owns the land bordered by Bridgeview Marina, Venetian Boulevard, Exmouth Street and Sarnia Harbour.

Point Edward’s committee of adjustment met June 2 and approved the severance application.

As a result, two small portions of the property, which have historically been leased to Bridgeview Marina for docking and parking, have been severed and will be sold to the marina, said village Chief Administrative Officer Jim Burns.

The golf course behind the Holiday Inn is also part of the parcel. The ownership of the golf course will be retained by the Sarnia-based construction and management company, Steeves and Rozema, Burns said.

“We’re curious about what Steeves and Rozema plans for the property but there is no proposal at this time.”

The 32-acre parcel, which includes a wooded area and a water channel that connects two parts of the marina, has been up for sale for about a year and is not serviced.
