Sarnia is forming a working group to plan and implement the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.

The declaration was adopted by the UN in 2007 and emphasizes the right of indigenous peoples to live in dignity, maintain their institutions and cultures, and pursue self-determined development.

The working group will be comprised of people from various backgrounds with a mandate of designing a model of community consultation and a plan to implement the declaration.
