A commissioner from the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada, Marie Wilson, will be meeting elders and others at the Aamjiwnaang First Nation Community Centre on Oct. 20.

The commission crossed the country to gather accounts of those affected by the legacy of Indian Residential Schools and released a report this summer containing 94 recommendations or calls to action.

Following a dinner, Wilson will discuss “where we go from here” at 6:30 p.m.

Wilson originally hails from Lambton County, having grown up in Petrolia.

The initiative by ‘Making the Recommendations Real’ is supported by Aamjiwnaang, Lambton County and the United Church of Canada.
