Sarnia will get a chance this fall to see some of Canada’s greatest figure skaters perform live at the Progressive Auto Sales Arena.

A cross-country ‘Thank You Canada Tour’ will visit 30 Canadian cities with a star-studded lineup that includes Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir, Patrick Chan, Kaetlyn Osmond, Elvis Stojko, Megan Duhamel and Eric Radford.

“We love Canada, we love Canadians and we love what this country represents,” said Moir in a statement.

“It’s the perfect time in our career to say thank you and acknowledge the unwavering and unconditional support we’ve received over the years.”

Moir and ice dance partner Tessa Virtue are the most decorated figure skaters in Olympic history and were Canada’s flag bearers at the opening ceremonies in PyeongChang.

With emotional and fiery routines, they captured three gold and two silver medals in ice dance and team events over three winter games, making them the first skaters with five Olympic medals.

Patrick Chan is recognized as Canada’s most decorated individual male figure skater. He made his Olympic debut at the age of 19 and has a gold and two silver medals over three winter games.

Chan has also won three world championships and holds the Canadian record as a ten-time national champion.

The rest of the line-up has also had huge success on the international stage.

Megan Duhamel and Eric Radford have won three Olympic medals, skating in pairs and team events.

Kaetlyn Osmond is a three-time Olympic medalist and in March became the first Canadian to win a women’s singles title at the world championships in 45 years.

Elvis Stojko is a two-time Olympic medalist and three-time world champion.

“We’re so used to seeing these athletes on TV and now we get to see them up close,” said Vicky Praill, of Tourism Sarnia-Lambton.

“It’s a once in a lifetime event for us.”

The coast-to-coast tour stops in Sarnia on Nov. 2 at the Progressive Auto Sales Arena.

Tickets range from 47.25 to $127.25, plus service charge, and are on sale now at the Sarnia Sting box office and website.
