Canadian hockey star Steven Stamkos will have his Sarnia Sting jersey number retired in January.
The #91 worn by the captain of the Tampa Bay Lightning will be retired during a ceremony prior to a game against the Windsor Spitfires at the Progressive Auto Sales Arena on Jan. 12.
Stamkos, 27, played two seasons with the Sting, scoring 100 goals with 97 assists in 2006-08. He was drafted by Sarnia first overall.
Stamkos has played 10 seasons with the Lightning and scored his 600th career NHL goal last month.
