Several city streets are scheduled for repair this summer.

Talfourd Street between Vidal and Proctor will be reconstructed with separated sanitary and storm sewers, as well as new boulevards and sidewalks.

That project includes the reconstruction of three short streets running south from Talfourd, namely Margaret, Emma and Stuart.

Warwick-based Van Bree Drainage won the contract with a bid of $4.9 million.

Two-thirds funding from the federal and provincial governments was expected to be approved this month.

Also this summer, Lambton County will resurface London Road between Murphy and Lambton Mall roads.

That work is expected to impact traffic and London Road businesses, so the plan is for the reconstruction to continue through the night.

City council has approved an exemption to its noise bylaw to allow for the overnight work.

Following complaints about the time it took the county to fix north Indian Road last year, the city has received assurances London Road’s timetable has been tightened up “considerably,” city staff say.
