Sarnia lost a community-builder with the recent passing of Richard “Dick” Ford.
Ford, 83, was a long-time employee of Dow Chemical, a member of city council in the early 1970s and served on the Sarnia Police Commission.
He was also a respected elder at St. Giles Presbyterian Church who was active with the Sarnia Community Foundation and local lecture series Central Forum.
Ford was also an historian who wrote a book on the history of the Chemical Valley, which was long a standard reference work for local reporters.
A celebration of his life was held Aug. 16 at St. Giles.
