Rapids swimmers make waves at meet

A winning relay team was among the 42 Sarnia Y Rapids I swim team swimmers who competed at the recent St. Clair Erie Aquatic League (SEAL) swim meet in Windsor.

A winning relay team was among the 42 Sarnia Y Rapids I swim team swimmers who competed at the recent St. Clair Erie Aquatic League (SEAL) swim meet in Windsor.

Lauren Armstrong and Kate Bedard, both 6, and Daisy Jenkins, 7, topped the field in the 7-and-under 100 metre freestyle relay.

Bedard also placed 3rd in the 25m butterfly while Jenkins was 3rd in the 25m backstroke.

Kaiden Rawson, 11, also has a 1st place finish, winning the 50m backstroke, and adding a 3rd in the 100m Individual Medley (IM).

Several teammates also finished in the Top 3 in individual events. Jack Biggar, 12, was 2nd in the 100m IM, and 3rd in the 50m butterfly. Thirteen-year-old Dylan Cloud earned a 3rd place finish in the 100m IM, while Rachel Dalton, 14, placed 3rd in the 100m breaststroke.

Nine-year-old Jack Girardi finished 3rd in the 100m IM and 25m breaststroke. Fellow nine-year-old Taylor Marut earned 3rd place in the 100m IM and 25m butterfly, while Brandon Neelin, 12, came 2nd in the 50m butterfly.

The Sarnia Y Rapids 1 swimmers are coached by Sue Athanasopoulos.
