Rapids swim team brings medals home from London

Sarnia Rapids swim team members did well at a 12 & under meet hosted by the London Aquatic Club recently.

Aili Girardi, 8, placed first in the 50m, 100m & 200m backstroke and 50m fly.  She also earned bronze in the 50m and 100m freestyle swims.

Daisy Jenkins, 11, won silver in the 50m free and 50m breastroke and silver in the 50m backstroke.

Siblings Grace & Ian Wallace brought home seven medals.  Grace, 8, earned gold in the 50 breastroke and bronze in the 50m fly and 100m breastroke. Ian, 9, won gold in the 50m & 200m breastroke, silver in the 100m breastroke and bronze in 100m freestyle.

Siblings Isaac Jones 12, and Lucas Jones 9, each brought home bronze medals in the 50m breastroke and 50m freestyle consecutively.

Maggie Kita, 12,won silver in the 50m back and breastroke earning best times in both events.

Natalie Pretty, 8, won silver in the 50m freestyle.

Jamieson Voth, 10, swam to a first place finish in the 50m breastroke and was second in the 50m backstroke, while Gabrielle Jones, 12, was 3rd in the 50m breastroke.

A relay team also won two medals and four swimmers — Jamieson Voth, Aili Girardi, Ian Wallace and Kylee Atkinson —qualified to compete at the Western Ontario regional championships.
