On July 31, a stolen pickup truck almost clipped a Sarnia Police cruiser on Colborne Road before entering a parking lot shortly after midnight, police said.

The officer, with cruiser lights flashing, pulled in behind. But the stolen truck jumped a curb and took off east on Cathcart Boulevard.

A short pursuit was called off for safety reasons and the truck later found abandoned on Pineridge Trail.

But the officer had seen the driver’s face, and six days later he was spotted riding a bicycle down Christina Street.

Police arrested a 21-year-old Sarnia man charged him with car theft, dangerous driving, fleeing police and breaching probation.
