Pedestrian crossovers, which are relatively new in Ontario, are identified by unique pavement markings and give pedestrians the right-of-way.

Drivers are required by law to stop when a pedestrian or cyclist signals they wish to cross, and must wait until the road is fully cleared before proceeding.

The crossing on Modeland Road has pavement markings and signs, while the crossings at Michigan Avenue and Wellington Street include flashing lights.

Funding assistance came from Bluewater Trails, Ontario government and the Huron Grove Foundation.
