Surrounded by family at C.E.E. Hospital of Bluewater Health, Shirely Anne Boyd passed peacefully on Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at the age of 72.
She leaves behind her loving husband and best friend of 53 years Dan Boyd. Dearly loved mother of David and Stephanie (Ken Broad). Shirley was an amazing and proud Grandma to Amy, Faith, and the late Ethan (2022). The family takes comfort in knowing Ethan will be waiting to take care of Grandma in Heaven.
Shirley is predeceased by parents Gordon “Owen” and Elsie Salisbury as well as her mother and father-in-law, Lawrence and Evelyn Swartz. She was the loving sister of Jeannie (the late Dennis) Marshall, Robert (the late Lynn) Salisbury, Donna (the late Ted) Jackson, Len (Barb) Salisbury, and Terry (Jane) Salisbury. She will be missed by her buddies Dave Vlcek and Armand Van Klavren as well as her second daughter Meena Cullis. Shirley was predeceased by Siblings Janet Cronk (Tom Perkins), William (Pat Horton), Peter (Carol), David, Ron, and Tom. Loving sister-in-law to Brenda (Ed) Mardlin and Linda Swartz (Lyle Anderson). Shirley is predeceased by a special aunt Shirley Weinman and will be greatly missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Shirley was so blessed to have such a wonderful family, always taking care of her.

For many years, Shirley enjoyed working at Lambton Meadowview Villa and LCDS (Maple St. Home). Shirley retired in 2017 and after a brief battle with cancer took a part-time job at Godfathers Pizza in Petrolia.

Shirley enjoyed playing bingo, attending the horse races, going fishing, rooting for the Toronto Blue Jays, cheering David and Amy on at the country music singing contests and spending time with her family who she loved so very much. Family meant the world to Shirley and Shirley meant the world to her family. Shirley loved all people. She was a beautiful soul and the sweetest person you could ever meet. She will always be remembered for her beautiful smile and her huge heart. Shirley was an amazingly strong woman who always had a positive outlook on life. Although her battle with liver disease was a massive struggle at times, Shirley never once lost her faith in God.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to Dr. Moon, Sr Shetty, Dr. Crombeen, Bayshore Healthcare and the doctors and nurses at Bluewater Health in Petrolia and Sarnia for the exceptional care and compassion given to Mom. A huge thank you to our dear friends Tanya Grant, Gary Fournie, Diane Totten, and Cheryl Edgar for the love and support you gave to Mom and our family during the darkest days of our lives.

As expressions of sympathy memorial donations, may be made to C.E.E. Hospital Foundation (www.ceehf.ca).
