Northern cross country team wins gold at provincials

The senior girls’ cross country team from Northern Collegiate used an interesting strategy to strike gold at the all-Ontario high school championships.

Four team members – Caroline Forbes, Kaylee White,

Lauren Perkins and Bryar Fournie – ran together over the six-kilometre course, helping each other to the provincial team title. Their teammates Madison Winegard and Mika Magtanong (alternate) also won gold.

Northern’s Andrew Davies finished 12th in the senior boys 6K and Northern’s Aidan James was 13th in midget boys.

Nine runners from the high school finished top 100 in their races.

Craig Machan and Matthew Postorious of Alexander Mackenzie were 5th and 7th respectively in the boys’ PARA ID race.
