Northern Collegiate wins indoor track and field meet

Journal Staff Northern Collegiate went the distance winning the overall team title at the annual York University Indoor High School track and field meet.

Northern Collegiate went the distance winning the overall team title at the annual York University Indoor High School track and field meet.

Vikings won the midget and senior divisions and placed third in junior to claim the overall team title on April 1.

Several multi-event winners aided the school’s victory.

Blake Freer won the midget boys 600m race with a time of 1:39.75 and the high jump competition, clearing 1.65m.

Sebastian Smith took high jump gold in the senior division with a jump of 1.9m, and long jump with a distance of 6.36m.

Alec Trusler, Vincent Ham, Oliver Ham, and Nick Forbes won the open boys 1600m-sprint medley with a time of 3:56.03, just ahead of another Northern team comprised of Nathen Chapple, Nathan Armstrong, Gabe Barnes, and Andrew Davies, who took second.
