Sarnia has found a finance director.

Suzanna Dieleman will begin the new job and join the senior management team on Feb. 25.

Dieleman is a Chartered Professional Accountant who is pursuing a Masters in Public Administration. She is also a board member with the Municipal Finance Officers Association.

She comes from the Township of Malahide where she has been director of finance and treasurer since 2013. Malahide is a municipality of about 9,000 people that surrounds the town of Aylmer, Ont.

She has also worked in the townships of Southwold and Bayham.

“We are thrilled to have Suzanna lead the finance team,” said Lisa Armstrong, the current interim CAO following the departure of Margaret Misek-Evans.

Armstrong has been Sarnia’s finance director the past three years. She resigned in December over what she has called the “political environment” at City Hall.

Her final day is Feb. 22
