Sarnia is stepping up its sidewalk game.
Council recently agreed to spend another $525,000 to improve sidewalks, bike lanes, ramps and bus stops that are in disrepair or don’t meet provincial accessibility standards.
Sidewalks at intersections that do not already have drop curbs will be replaced with concrete ramps featuring tactile walking surfaces to assist the visually impaired.
The work was recommended in a Transportation Master Plan adopted by council in 2014.
The contract was awarded to DiCocco General Contractors of Sarnia.
