A series of mobile blood donor clinics will launch in Sarnia this August, according to Canadian Blood Services, following the closure of Sarnia’s permanent clinic, effective June 1.

Monthly Wednesday clinics begin August 5 at the Dante Club, 1330 London Road, Sarnia, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Monthly Friday clinics will begin August 14, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., with a location yet to be determined.

Chief supply chain officer Ian Mumford noted the current permanent clinic – located in the Bayside Centre -- has consistently collected about 20% below its target for the past several years.

Along with local volunteers, 10 part-time staff are impacted by the closure.
