Local track athletes advance to regional Ontario meet

Irish relay team Joey Eddleston of St. Patrick’s High School rounds a turn at the SWOSSA track and field meet, held last weekend at Chatham-Kent and Windsor. Irish relay team Joey Eddleston of St. Patrick’s High School rounds a turn at the SWOSSA track and field meet, held last weekend at Chatham-Kent and Windsor.

He and teammates Patrick Lange, Travis Garrity and Mitch Damchuk placed third in the senior boys 4x100 metre relay.

Eddleston also had a first in the senior boys 100-metre dash and was second in the 200-metre dash.

Skyla Minaker carries the baton for Northern Collegiate at the SWOSSA track and field meet, held last weekend at Chatham-Kent and Windsor. She and teammates Georgia Auger, Kristy Hodgins and Kelly Hodgins placed first in the senior girl's 4x100 metre relay with a time of 49.26. Competing as a junior, Minaker won the 80-metre hurdles, was second in long jump and fourth in triple-jump. Top five finishers in each event advanced to the all-Ontario meet in London May 29-30.
