High schools and church halls will ring with the sound of music next week when the Lambton County Music Festival returns for its 89th season.

The Festival, which runs from April 23 to May 3, features entrants of all ages vying for cash prizes and more than 80 trophies.

Categories cover a range of music from bands to barbershop and piano to choirs, and will take place at Dunlop, St. Giles and Central United churches, Sarnia Library and Great Lakes and St. Patrick’s high schools.

A non-profit organization run by community volunteers, Lambton’s is longest running music festival in Canada without outside funding.

There is no admission charge to watch but donations are appreciated.

The top singers and musicians go on to perform a Stars of the Festival concert May 15th at Grace United Church, at 7 p.m.
