Sarnia’s homegrown talent showcase for new and emerging bands returns with a vengeance on June 28.

Indiefest is both a Battle of the Bands spread over three Saturdays and a Youth Talent Showcase.

”Sarnia needs an outlet for the vast talent of independent bands, somewhere for people to have a great time and discover amazing new music,” said co-founder Kevin Thorne.

All events take place around an outdoor mobile stage at Rustic, formerly The Stubborn Mule, with a top prize of $1,000 for the winning group.

Things kick off June 28 and continue July 26 with four bands performing each night.

Winners of those rounds square off Aug. 23 in a final showdown.

A talent showcase for artists aged 14 to 19 is held that same afternoon, with Sarnia ‘s own Wellabee wrapping things up at the finale.

Each concert is an all-ages event. Tickets are $8 at the door, $5 in advance, available at Cheeky Monkey, The Music Box or by calling 226-776-6077.

 THE LINE UP:

June 28: Power House, Time Is A Hymn, Blue Daven's Code, & Catacomb Castaway

July 26: To be announced

A portion of sales go to Harmony For Youth and Kids Help Phone.
