Heart doctor passes

A Sarnia cardiologist with an international reputation for excellence died last week while travelling in Spain. Dr. Bal Sahay, 73, had practiced in Sarnia since 1989 before retiring in 2012 from a distinguished career that took him around the world.

A Sarnia cardiologist with an international reputation for excellence died last week while travelling in Spain.

Dr. Bal Sahay, 73, had practiced in Sarnia since 1989 before retiring in 2012 from a distinguished career that took him around the world.

The International Association of Cardiologists recognized Sahay, who was licensed to practice in five countries, as an elite physician in 2011.

He was the former president of professional medical staff at Bluewater Health and director of the Lambton County cardiac unit.

He is survived by his wife … of Sarnia.

Funeral arrangements had yet to be announced at presstime.
