Local residents can dispose of their household hazardous waste at Lambton College on June 20.

The one-day mobile depot will set up on the college parking lot at 1457 London Rd. from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Things like batteries, pesticides, gasoline, paint, rat poison, cleaning fluids, pharmaceuticals, aerosols and propane cylinders can safely be disposed of at no cost.

"These items should never be placed in a regular landfill because they have the potential to injure workers and damage the environment,” said Lambton County public works manager Jason Cole.

Items not accepted include PCBs, radioactive waste, electronics and explosives like flares or ammunition.

The event is co-sponsored by Lambton and Clean Harbors Canada Inc.
