Ex-Sting players competing at nationals

Several former members of the Sarnia Sting are at the Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) Hockey Championships this weekend.

Daniel Broussard and Kyle Neuber of the Guelph Gryphons, Adrian Robertson of the University of New Brunswick, Brett Thompson of Acadia along with Nathan Chiarlitti, Zack MacQueen and Craig Duininck of the host St. Francis Xavier Axemen will all compete in the national tournament in Halifax.

Thompson was named to the Atlantic University Sport (AUS) first-team all-star squad after leading the conference in goals this season with 19 and finishing second in points with 38 in 28 games.

Chiarlitti was chosen for the second all-star team.  He had four goals and nine assists in 28 games with St. FX.

Meantime, Alex Basso of the Ryerson Rams was named to the first-team all-star team and the all-rookie squad in the OUA West Division, Parker Van Buskirk of the University of Windsor was named to the West Division first all-star team and was also chosen the West Division Goaltender of the Year and Jimmy McDowell and Erik Robichaud of the Nipissing Lakers were chosen to the all-rookie team in the OUA East Division.
