MADD Sarnia/Lambton’s annual Candlelight Vigil will be held on Thursday, Sept. 27 in Centennial Park.

The community is invited to attend to remember the victims of impaired driving, deceased and injured. The vigil takes place rain or shine, starting at 7 p.m. and makes its way along the St. Clair River boardwalk to MADD's memorial bench south of London Road.

Sarnia Deputy Police Chief Owen Lockhart will speak, along with first responders from Sarnia Fire & Rescue and EMS.

City police lay about 50 charges against drunk drivers each year and that number has remained steady for some time.

MADD chapter president Charmaine Murray said there is growing concern legal marijuana use will add to the impaired driving numbers.

In event of rain the vigil will move to the Suncor Agora.
