The area of Canatara Park known as Tarzanland will be closed to the public until Feb. 14 to allow for the removal of dead and dangerous ash trees.

The impacted area, home to numerous large trees killed by the emerald ash borer, fronts Christina Street between Michigan Avenue and Lake Chipican Drive.

When that section is done the time and location of a second phase will be determined.

The plan is to have all of Canatara’s dead and dangerous ash tree removed before spring, said parks and recreation director Beth Gignac.
