The timing was perfect for Sarnia’s newest music festival.

Artists performing at Bluewater Borderfest on July 28-29 scored a total of 14 nominations at last week’s Canadian Country Music Awards.

Leading the way was Saturday headliner Brett Kissel, who earned nods for male artist, video, single, interactive artist and songwriter of the year.

The festival also boasts three of the five artists nominated for the CCMA rising star award — The James Barker Band, Aaron Goodvin and Dan Davidson.

Barker was also nominated for single, group, video, album and songwriter of the year awards.

The two-day festival is taking place in Centennial Park, with capacity capped at 5,000.
