Two local teens have struck provincial gold at the Ontario Beach Volleyball championship in Toronto.

Katelyn Gratton and Jordyn Knowles of the Twin Bridges volleyball club were victorious in their Under 14 division at Ashbridges Bay Park on Aug 2-3.

This was the first year the Sarnia club has participated in the beach tour, and it was a very successful one.

Ella Lassaline and Alex Mulder won provincial bronze in the Under 16 category, and Rheannon Demeter and Marisa Mueller scored U15 bronze at the Grand Bend stop of the tour.

“It was very exciting for them,” said Amanda Williams, a coach with the club. “In beach volleyball you have to earn points, and those points are earned toward your championship level.”

The tour featured half a dozen Ontario stops.

Twin Bridges is a parent-run club that strives to make volleyball available to young players through indoor winter play and outdoor summer volleyball.

Beach practices were held this year at Canatara and Bluewater Fun Park.
