Vanessa Rapaqna, left, and Kaitlyn Malleau, of London-based Timmins Martelle Heritage Consultants, sift through soil searching for artifacts at an archeological assessment being done on Blackwell Road, a place once on the shore of post-glacial Lake Algonquin.

The one-week project was a requirement prior to the construction of three new homes. Field director Matthew Severn said last week the assessment hadn’t yet turned up anything exciting, although workers had found small pieces of pottery and stone flakes created during the making of arrowheads.
